We are making available sets of virtual flashcards for the gymnastics judging community. The cards are viewed through an open source program available from “the Mnemosyne Project”. Mnemosyne was the Titan Goddess of Memory in Greek mythology, and the project named after her uses state of the art algorithms for card ordering and presentation to yield the greatest impact on retention. The program can be downloaded through the Mnemosyne Project Webpage, or directly through the Sourceforge Link. I have scanned the download (as well as installing it myself); it is a clean installer, and does not contain any malware, adware, or other unwanted programs, and does not attempt to install anything in your browser.
Once you have installed the program, you create a new project database (DB) using “New”. My preference is to make a separate DB for each card set. Then you may import one (or more) of the following card sets using the “Import” feature. (Before you import, set card type to front to back only). The program has you view a card, and then you can bring up the flip side for the answer. Then you rate the card on how well you knew the material in it. The algorithm uses that information to prioritize card presentation for greatest effect.
